The Sustainable Development Goals
In 2015 the United Nations Member States adopted a plan for sustainable development. The idea is to establish a roadmap to improve the world now and tomorrow.
The 17 SDGs are general goals with individually defined targets. The SDGs call on countries to demand and foster change.
While eradicating poverty was at the heart of the Millennium Development Goals (2000), the core of the SDGs is to tackle the same issues while also preserving the environment and creating partnerships.
